Knights Cross Country Shines at St. Andrew’s Meet!
The Knights cross country teams delivered strong performances at the St. Andrew’s Meet on Saturday, September 16, 2025.
Girls Varsity
Our girls varsity team placed 6th overall, showing tremendous teamwork by running as a tight pack—a strategy that will be key as championship season approaches. Salem Braeuer, Hazel Blacklock, and Charlotte Thompson all medaled with top-20 finishes, while Sophia Zeigler was close behind. Freshman Reese Owens also impressed with a great first 5K, rounding out our top five scorers.
Boys Varsity
The boys varsity team battled hard for a 7th-place finish, staying within striking distance of teams we’ll face again later this year. Each week we’re seeing steady improvement. Liam Chan once again led the way, medaling for the Knights, while Nicholas Smith, Luke Massey, Gabe Coker, and Landon Stuckey ran closely together to secure critical points. John and Owen Williams weren’t far behind, highlighting the depth of this squad. Shoutouts as well to Lucas Laird, Charlie Roy, and Caldwell Spicer for their grit and determination!
Girls JV
The girls JV squad gave an inspiring performance. Rebecca Metzger, Sophia Spadini, Suwani Perera, Gabi Phillips, Genevieve Willett, and Madeline Whelan all raced with heart. For many, it was their first meet of the season, and despite the slower course, multiple personal bests were set. Their effort all the way through the finish line was a highlight of the day.
Looking Ahead
Coach Smitheal and I are excited about the weeks ahead. The commitment, teamwork, and competitive spirit of these athletes continue to shine, and their drive to improve is inspiring.
A big thank-you to all the parents, administration, and faculty who came out to support, and a special shoutout to the football players who showed up to cheer after a late night—you made a difference!
Next up: The Knights race again this Friday morning, September 19, at the Hoka/McNeil Invitational in Round Rock. Go Knights!
